in the 10,000 Meter Run
Arturo Barrios was born in Mexico City in 1962.
He held the world record in the 10,000 meters (27:08.23) for four years from 1989 to 1993.

half-marathon distance in less than one hour. Arturo participated in the 6th IAAF World Cup in Athletics in 1992, running the 5,000 m with a time of 13:50.95,
finishing in second place.
Barrios became a United States citizen in September of 1994. Barrios graduated from Texas A&M University in 1985 where he competed in track and cross country. He presently resides outside of Boulder, Colorado.
"About a year ago I discovered Spira. I have not been able to run in another brand since! The pounding I had endured after years of competitive running in traditional running and racing shoes had taken its toll on me and caused me to largely abandon running, which had become unenjoyable and uninspiring. The WaveSpring Technology is a truly remarkable advancement in footwear that I predict will revolutionize the entire industry in time. I am now able enjoy a daily run. I am inspired. I only wish this Company and technology were around when I was competing."
